Udachi is a monster!
"I am originally form ukraine, living in staten island, i've been playing raves for close to 8 years (sad), i love dance music in all forms, mainly cheese. I did a Panacea remix a few years back, i love piano rave music and big beat! I will be coming out with a new mix soon and it will be fun! When i'm not working, or working on music i hang out with AC and listen to dubstep and make up new dance moves for it."
This new breed of Dubstep influenced electro house has been murder on the dance floor and guys like Udachi are consistently pushing to the next level. If you haven't heard him yet LISTEN

BEST OF 2008 pt.1 - BOY 8 BIT
One of my favorite dudes from 2008 has to be Boy 8 Bit. This guy is making some of the most ingenious dance music ever right now. His tunes subtly yet oh so effectively combine elements of melodic trance pads & leads, with tearing electro house basslines, and the finest of baltimore on the percussion. Boy 8 Bit's music is nothing short of brilliant and a very welcomed take on things for 2008, 2009 and I would think for a time to come.

After seeing this video I was actually intrigued enough to do a little research about these little dudes "Brokencyde". First off the bands name, was there a possible worse choice??? They have officially made the word "crunk" wack in every sense. They actually do tour and they do shows that people pay to get into ... all over the world! They have over 150,000 friends on myspace. This is so messed up to me!

FAKE BLOOD
FAKE BLOOD - Edmonton AB Canada - Dec.19 @ THE PAWN SHOP
Yes this is real. The musical mystery monster known as Fake Blood will be touching down in Edmonton at the Pawn Shop on Dec.19. This is one of the more highly anticipated shows this year and a great way to cap off 2008. Heres the skinny....
FAKE BLOOD [ Cheap Thrills, Mad Decent, Domino - UK ]
Who is FAKE BLOOD? No one really knows, but a Man Named Sang has become one of the biggest party/club sensations out there. His self-description says it all, what more could you ask for? “I MAKE MUSIC – AND I TAKE YOUR MUSIC AND DO WHAT I WANT WITH IT. IF SWALLOWED SEEK MEDICAL ASSISTANCE. WILL STAIN CLOTHES. WILL SOUND SPECTACULAR. ” He has dropped bomb after bomb remixing some of the scenes best Kid Sister, South Rakkas, and Black Ghosts. Plus his original material has become anthems of the current times, including the massive MARS backed with Splashing Blood! His music has been featured in sets by Crookers, Errol Alkan, Pete Tong, Herve, Sinden, Bassnectar, MSTRKRFT, Deadmau5, Diplo, Steve Aoki, ZTrip and pretty much every other relevant DJ. Any questions?
Here is the newest offering from Fake Blood
MP3 - Hot Chip "Touch Too Much" [Fake Blood Remix]
This is one of my favorite remix's by mr. blood.
MP3 - South Rakkas "Mad Again" [Fake Blood Remix]
This of course one of the big anthems of this past summer and still living on to murder dance floors everywhere
MP3 - FAKE BLOOOD "MARS"
here is an interesting little bit of info straight from fake blood head quaters
"Ok... I need to clear something up.
People seem to think that when I do a remix, I ask the artist to record the words "Fake Blood" so I can use that in the track.
That's NOT how I do it.
In every remix I have done, the words "Fake Blood" are created by me chopping up the ORIGINAL acapella, and assembling the words with individual vowel and consonant sounds...
No new vocals are used, only the same one heard in the original song.
And yes, even the Little Boots one was done like that.
SANG

KILL THE NOISE
This coming Saturday OCT. 11 2008
Kill The Noise touches down in Edmonton with Canadian super hero Mat The Alien.
In a time when the internet and dancefloors around the world are saturated with all types of artists and performers, it's difficult for emerging names to carve out their own niche in the scene and have their sound heard by the masses. However, the dynamic production force known as Kill The Noise has done just that in the small amount of time since their introduction to the electro/house scene just before the turn of the new year.
Upon further inspection, the origin of this unique and refined sound is apparent. The project emerges from the same studio of NY-based avant garde drum & bass front runner Ewun, as well as the brand new, highly regarded mash-up/IDM project Ludachrist. The minds behind these projects are no strangers to the electronic music scene, having already traveled the globe in various other successful musical endeavors.
Tight production, creative, original, and innovative ideas begin to describe the sound Kill The Noise is known for. While some compositions growl with angry, distorted synth lines and glitchy sample edits, others lean towards the more playful, funkier side with addictive melodic hooks and lyrics, complimenting additional productions of the more techno-inspired realm of pumping side-chained beats and infectious rhythms.
This sound has resonated throughout the blogosphere and electronic dance communities, and has been embraced by both old and new generations of artists, DJ's and enthusiasts. Commanding attention from its listeners, Kill The Noise has earned support from a diverse selection of notable players in the global electronic dance music community. Names such as Chromeo, Scion Automotive Company, Treasure Fingers, Klever, Craze, A-Trak, AM Only, URB, I Heart Comix and Juxtapoz Magazine, just to name a few - not to mention the plethora of music blogs all over the world who have helped to spread the growing reputation of KTN. Whether it is an original composition or remix, the music stands out from the pack as something special to both the average and avid listeners.
2008 is already shaping up to be huge for Kill The Noise with a truckload of new material in the pipelines including various remixes and original material! All in addition to a growling list of high-profile performances. Kill The Noise is on a mission to prove the name to be true... Kill the noise, kill the production, kill the scene, and become the most influential production outfit on the block.

THE BUG
Sunday Sept.21 2008 - The Bug & Warrior Queen LIVE!
Edmonton AB Canada
Starlite Room
Doors at 9pm
Tickets $10 at the door
This is easily one of the most exciting shows this year for me. I have been a big fan of both The Bug and Warrior Queen for sometime. All I can say is dont miss this event and if you dont know then seriously, please, READ ON!
Kevin Martin, under a dozen-or-so aliases and across numerous genres, has been screwing around with deep bass for well over a decade. It was only upon digging a bit deeper I found that 1997's Tapping the Conversation-- a concept album conceived as a surrogate soundtrack to Francis Ford Coppola's The Conversation-- was his first release as the Bug. Although not quite The Bug we know today.
I was introduced via his 2003 follow-up Pressure. I was impressed by how aggressive, yet danceable The Bug’s tracks were. Being a long time fan of dancehall and reggae I found myself intrigued by this rougher, grittier, heavier dancehall sound. At that time dancehall was receiving mainstream hype thanks to Sean Paul and others, but here was something infinitely more grimey, and with so much more bass. It sounded similar to pop dancehall, but only if it were created in some kind of post apocalyptic bombed out world, where the “Everyting be irie” vibe of reggae had completely died out. In it’s place stood the sound that would become dubstep.
Dubstep pulls from grime, dancehall, drum and bass, techno, speed garage, ragga, and most importantly dub, that bass heavy, rhythm-centric creation of Lee “Scratch” Perry and his aural ilk.
Fast forward to 2008 and The Bug is releasing his "London Zoo" LP on Ninja Tune recordings. This release not only signifies the permanence of Dubstep but also shows blinding diversity within a sound just old enough to be called a genre. The Albums many highlights include appearances by Daddy Freddy,Roll Deep's Flowdan, and the Warrior Queen. The latter of which takes the cake on London Zoo, takes the whole bakery really. The Bug and Warrior Queen's “Poison Dart” hits so fucking hard, there’s just no other way to say it. The bottom end puts any drum and bass track to shame. Warrior Queen spits out violent rhymes over The Bug’s booming riddim. Warrior Queen doesn’t bring a gun to the fight, but packs instead a precise poison dart. The video for the track only furthers the feeling, following the sonic battle of Mad Max-esque sound-system nomads.
Overall this is a primer for the world of dubstep, introducing many to some of the key MCs in the scene. Seriously listen to this album, but only on the biggest speakers you can find. It’s a Dies Irae for the post-industrial urban landscape, but this time in Patois rather than Latin, and the Tuba miram booms out of the sound-system subwoofer, not the brass section.

SUBVERT
If you like dirty bass, you best get to know Subvert. Anyone who was at Motion Notion had a chance to see this PK frontman tear the Fort apart with his own brand of Heavy Dubstep and Glitch, built to give the subs a workout. He's got 2 sets at Shambhala this year, on the beach, and in the Village... don't sleep on this shit! Peep his latest mix, and an exclusive tune for Oh Snap! readers at the bottom of this post.
Here's his Bio, from MutiMusic:
What started out as an introduction and a remix project turned us ‘on’ to one of Canada’s rising stars of bass driven crunky beats in the form of “Subvert’. His tracks have been doing promo rounds and have made regular appearances in the sets of Bassnectar, Ill Gates (The Phat Conductor) & Dov amongst others.
Subvert hails from Calgary, Alberta and his winding path in music started in 1996. Proof of his dedication to ‘Bass’ is in his track record of creating the world’s loudest competition vehicles, designing pK’s 90,000 watt sound system and managing the Village Stage at Shambhala Music Festival. He started DJing in 2000 and combined with his extensive work on sound systems and attention to precision sound, he was ultimately & naturally led down the path to creating his own music productions and once again the low frequencies consumed him. Subvert’s sound is a combination of throbbing, relentless basslines, melodic strings and haunting pianos singing through midtempo glitch / acid crunk and dubstep. His attention to detail and the ability to tune into ‘bass that works’ can be felt in all of his music productions, he is an expert in the subsonic, the crowd and the show.
The past year has truly seen the emergence of Subvert as a recording artist, with a slew of new releases in the first half of 2008:
‘Subversion’ and ‘No Smokey Ganja’ on Rottun Recordings,
‘Bigtsteppa’ on Punch Out
and a recent remix of the Ill Gates smasher ‘Sweat Shop’ upcoming on Muti Music.
We are stoked to announce the forthcoming ‘Dirt Nap’ EP in addition to the ‘Sweat Shop’ remix coming out on Muti Music, the EP will include the tracks; ‘Size Matters’, ‘Curb Stomper’, ‘Dirt Nap’ and ‘Pump et Up’.
It’s all about the bass…..
You can download Subvert recent promotional mix which includes edits of many of these tracks below.

DJ KUE
Ive been hearing alot of buzz over DJ KUE these days. His crowd friendly fidgety electro house has an incredibly broad appeal and his tight productions have been spotted in some the biggest DJs sets.
Heres the word from the DJ KUE My Space
DJ Kue is quickly becoming one of dance music’s fastest rising deejays and producers. His music has been garnering support from Judge Jules, DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, Charles Feelgood and many others. Starting production in 2004, he began to make noise with various bootlegs he released to friends and respective deejays. Many of these tracks made their way through the Internet until his first official release on Vibrance Recordings. “Something Special” gained worldwide attention as funky feel good house in a year that was dominated by the now established electro sound of house music. Kue would go on to release various tracks on Immense, Via Musique, Harmonize, Prompt Digital, Eden, InStereo, and many more.
Not only are Kue’s skills as a producer in high demand, but his skills as a dj as well. Approaching his 15th year of djing, he has been known for innovating his own style, taking the listeners on a journey through music. It is not only Kue's track selection that one should look out for, but his constant manipulation of tracks through the use of of doubles, vigorous scratching and other turntablism techniques. With a combination of great track selection and turntablist techniques, he does what he can to rock a party right!
Currently Kue has begun working on production with DJ Dan and Donald Glaude, along with new music for labels InStereo, Shush Music, and Sweet Cherry Music. Keep on a look out for new music and performances from Kue!
"DJ Kue's production is on point. He obviously has funk and soul in his blood. I recently signed his track "The Way" to my record label and it's proved to be a very successful release. I'm a huge supporter of what Kue is doing and you can expect to hear his name a lot more in the near future."
DJ Dan, InStereo Recordings
"California's DJ Kue shows great promise as a strong electro contender in a sea of hopeful producers."
Dani Deahl, URB Magazine
"these tracks are off the hook mate! nice one! ;-)

R.I.P. K-SWIFT
taken from the Low Bee board...
It's with the deepest regret, the heaviest heart, and in a state of an almost paralyzing shock that we're to report that the Queen of Baltimore Club Music died last night due to a drowning accident in the swimming pool at her home. This information is coming directly from our family at Unruly, and as soon as a more detailed explanation is available, we'll be sure to pass that info along.
Will, heart and faith, are all of the traits that this female, Baltimore native, ascertained, in order to excel in a male dominated, hustle-minded, fast paced industry. Khia Edgerton a.k.a the “Club Queen K-Swift” was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland on October 19,1980. Growing up, she had many influences to help drive her into what some might say is a successful music career and others her destiny. Her influences were Cocoa Channel and Jazzy Joyce along with her father who had an immense passion for music. K-Swift began DJing at the age of 11; now 14 years later, she’s not only Baltimore’s only female DJ, but she’s also the only female Mix Show Coordinator in the country! Her desires to become a professional, well-known DJ were met with numerous obstacles. She received a lot of skepticism from males however; she never let that phase her. Her formula for brushing off all the haters was to just do her own thing and stay focused. Long hours spent working to enhance her DJ skills paid off.
At the age of 18, she was offered an internship at Radio One of Baltimore; 92Q Jams. From this point on, her will, faith, and formula quickly began to turn her yesterday’s dream into a reality. That same year she began producing shows for the station, the first being the Mark Young Show, followed by the Neke @ Night Show. Two years later, her impressive and consistent performance as an intern landed her a job with 92Q, where she officially became the first female DJ on the “Q”. She began DJing for a show that she and an on-air personality, Neke produced, which was called Ladies Night. That show was a big hit, therefore her new offer to be an on air personality was inevitable. After becoming an on-air personality, she then was presented with an opportunity to mix for the “Big Phat Morning Show”. Benefiting from that opportunity and growing as a DJ, she held this position for two years. She then decided to continue to expand her horizons, as she switched from part time to full time. Once she became a full time DJ she began taking over the night show from 6-10 on the Q with her co-host Reggie Reg. Not a surprise that this show became the number one night show in Baltimore. Oh, and it doesn’t stop there, she just doesn’t stop. As changes were being made at the station she remained as the late night DJ, now with co-host Squirrel Wyde, which is currently the number one night show in Baltimore.
K-Swift plays at all the hottest clubs & parties in Baltimore; her fan base is beyond celebrity status. She mixes for all the high school parties as well as in the mall for Downtown Locker Room a popular urban retailer of footwear, apparel, and music. Working at the Q opened numerous doors for K-Swift; she’s done big shows with HOT artist like Paula Campbell and Lil Mo. She‘s a member of the hottest DJ’s in the country known as the Violator All Star DJ’s, as well as the all female squad MURDA MAMIS. Her expertise as a DJ, and her career as an on air personality aren’t the limits of her capabilities. She is also the proud owner of her own Graphics Company, and Production and Management Company (Club Queen Entertainment), while simultaneously selling her own mix Cd’s on her website and in stores across the United States. In addition to all those hats that she wears, she’s also the ONLY female Record Pool Director in Baltimore for Direct Drive Record Pool. K-Swift is just unstoppable. She’s unique and unpredictable. She always bringing the hottest and latest music, not only does she bring hype to the party through her mixing skills, but her aggressive voice on the mike boosts the entire experience. Her love for what she does along with her caring and outgoing personality has taken her to the top, but she’s never going to settle. There’s so much more out there that she would like to pursue. Her goal right now is to go on tour with a major artist, and excel at being an entrepreneur. K-Swift is definitely a woman that the music industry doesn’t want to sleep on, she conquers any and all obstacles that come her way, and her drive should let you know that she can’t stop, and won’t stop, until she’s done it all.
She carried a mysterious, almost mythic quality about herself and her craft to some of us club music fanatics outside of Baltimore. We've always known that she had the ability to make and break artists in her city, and that she held it down on 92Q radio, but until this past weekend, I don't think we knew the first thing about her. Her Dj sets at the My Crew Be Unruly party at the Paradox, and at the Artscape festival the next day (with DJ Class) were nothing short of incredible. Friday night at the Dox was so devastating in fact, that her jaw dropping set actually had Diplo nervous about following her, and I've NEVER heard him admit anything similar of the sort before then. He and I literally talked about her all day yesterday. The conversation was something to the effect of "Isn't K Swift the most awesome person in the history of awesomeness?!" and then we'd compare notes about how effortlessly cool, and what an immensely talented dj she was. Shawn Caesar says she couldn't stop talking about how excited she was to have been spinning with Diplo, and how much she was looking forward to working with all of us in the nearest future...WTF? THIS ISN'T FAIR!
Shawn, Scottie and the rest of the Unruly fam, I have no idea what yall are going through...especially Shawn, Scottie and Larry because I know you were as close as family to each other. Your loss is our loss, and what this beautiful and talented woman brought to the table can not ever be replaced. She was a pioneer in her field and she expanded that vista almost every day to include more and more successes. I'm so sorry, Baltimore. We love you!
Rest In Peace K Swift, The Queen Of Baltimore and Club Music worldwide.

BREAKDOWN
Lets break it down. Reid speed and the brothers Josh David and Matt David are the collective known as breakdown. In 2005 they started throwing the 'breakdown' parties together and over the years they have focused more and more on production which judging by the most recent output was a worth while choice. Breakdown is already receiving big support for their tracks from the likes of z-trip,guns n bombs, and one of my personal favorites Mr. Rico Tubbs.
So heres the heaters, play them at your next family reunion and watch grandma "cut a rug".

NYC Heavy Bass Champion.
So Shambhala Music Festival is coming up here pretty quick. And I'm really stoked to check out all of the music. One person in particular who I will be sure to check out will be Drop the Lime aka. Cruses or Luca Venezia’s. Coming out of Brooklyn New York playing an evolved style, re-appropriating breakcore, bassline house, rave, jungle and dubstep, unforgettably touched with Luca’s own original vocals. Recent remixes for Moby, Robyn, Blaqstarr, Health Disco, Midnight Juggernauts and Infants have fuelled the blaze... However Curses! is different to DTL, but still relies heavily on cheesey high-pitched-chipmunk vocals diced up, but now alongside infectious glitchy electro. Furthermore Curses! is signed to the Parisian electro label Institubes, a label that has come to command some real respect - home to Surkin, Bobmo, High Powered Boys, Midnight Juggernauts, Para One and Orgasmic.

Glitch Mob Taking the City!
The Glitch Mob have been slowing their tour schedule for a while, to join forces in the studio to create a lazer bass force to be reckoned with. It's not a giant robot, but it leaves the same sense of awe... one of the first products of their union of glitchy-ness, their remix of Nalepa's "Monday"

ROGER 72 & The Walk
Two DJs with a sound hugely inspired by the early Parisian scene where it all started with bands like Daft Punk and Casius. Now, a decade later, new names took over the scene like Justice, Uffie, SebastiaAn, Kavinsky Mr. Oizo, Teenage Bad Girl and of course label Kitsune. Besides all those Parisian party chrashers don’t be surprised if the Walk and Rogerseventytwo bring you some German Electro (Boys Noize, Digitalism etc), Favela Booty Beats, Baltimore Sound or even Michael Jackson.
With a friendschip longer than ten years old and a same taste and interest in music The Walk and Rogerseventytwo started to work together in the summer of 2004. Wasn’t that the time that the DJ scene needed a new boost with a new sound? Yes indeed! And those two were ready for it. With great support of captain Joost van Bellen they both had the honour to perform together twice with Uffie and Feadz at Holland’s filthiest party Rauw where they soon became residents. Soon gigs followed in the Netherlands, (Paradiso with Justice and Gildas from Kitsune label) Tjech Republic (Plastique), Paris (Elegangz) and London on the Tiger Trax Label night. Since then they have a diverse list of gigs in and outside the Netherlands.
2007 was the year that their baby WE LOVE… was born. Their own party night in one of the most outstanding clubs at this moment in the city off Amsterdam: The Flex Bar. Teenage Bad Girl, Les Petits Pilous, Aysam and Danger came to join the line-up in earlier successful editions. Also this year new upcoming dj and producer talent from abroad will be their guest once in every three months. Most of the time these artists are not to common with the majority of the crowd yet, this gives the WE LOVE… night an exclusive feeling with one security, the invited artists are always asked and scouted by The Walk and Rogerseventytwo themselves. And believe it or not, they know exactly what their doing!
Next to a being a DJ, Rogerseventytwo is also a producer. When he first started, his first inspiration came from music produced in the seventy’s. This period in time became a fascination while he was working on tracks that grasp the new French sound in a creative and innovative way. Curious? Here you find a list of tracks produced by Roger. And promise yourself one thing, make sure you’ll check these youngsters out; we’ll see you on the dance floor!
*ROGERSEVENTYTWO - IMAGINATION | Unreleased
*ROGERSEVENTYTWO - DOGGY BAG | Unreleased
*MELOMANICS - COME ON (Rogerseventytwo Remix) | Black Label
*DJ DLG - PARAMOUNT (Rogerseventytwo Remix) | Huge Records

*CASSIUS - JACKROCK (Rogerseventytwo Remix) | Cassius Workshop
*SUPER COMMODORE - COLINE (Rogerseventytwo Remix) | Suesse Records
The Walk not only stands behind the decks with Rogerseventytwo. Next to a DJ he also is a great student. After finishing his study Psychobiology (what gave him the title Bachelor of Science), he is now studying medicines at the University of Amsterdam. He is willing to finish this study successfully and save some lives in the future.

100% PURE GOLD
If you haven't heard of Santogold by now, your hype machine is surely out of order. Since the tip-off of 2007, the 32-year-old Bed-Stuy resident, born Santi White, has toured with Björk, graced countless magazines in all her neon-leggings-with-frosted-jean-cutoffs-and-gold-door-knocker-earrings glory, and been hailed as the next M.I.A. Indeed, the two iconoclasts share more than a loud fashion sense: Santogold also calls Diplo and Switch her producers and makes genre-defying -- or, rather, genre-blending -- music.
With her eponymous debut's deft mix of dap, punk, rock, pop, house, reggae, and hip-hop, she won't completely live down associations with the famous Sri Lankan (whom she also counts as a friend), but the result emerges as much more than a mere imitation.
On "Creator" -- with drums thumping, helium-tight vocals squealing, and Atari-like noises chirping -- Santogold comes off as playfully braggadocious, making a declaration that defines the entire album: "Me, I'm a creator/ Thrill is to make it up/ The rules I break got me a place/ Up on the radar." Though nearly every track is laced with the chopped-synth sounds you'd expect from her production crew (also including John Hill, Disco D, and FreQ Nasty), the star attraction incorporates an impressive musical know-how gained as frontwoman for the short-lived indie-punk band Stiffed. "Lights Out" and "I'm a Lady" channel the Pixies with a punk-pop sound fueled by spare guitar plucks, simple drum patterns, and lyrics delivered in a talk-sing stutter with random falsetto breaks; the reluctant love song "My Superman" ("Well, you're a liar and your cues are all wrong/ But I can't count all the ways you woo me") and "Anne" go goth, with thick basslines burbling beneath the wobbly vocals and wolf howls.
But the music of the Philly native gets better as her influences get more muddled. She hits her stride in the hard-to-understand (due to gibberish lyrics and a faux West Indies accent) but impossible-not-to-move-to tracks like the single "L.E.S. Artistes" (which ironically lambastes downtown hipsters over a 1980s-meets-2000s mix of melodies), the island-bop feel of "Shove It," and "You'll Find a Way (Switch and Sinden Remix)." The latter is Santogold's biggest banger: Listening to the original sped-up ska version (track 2) and then encountering the same song ten tracks later with a completely different feel -- the rock instrumentation stripped away in exchange for sexy beats building on each other and fusing to Santi's isolated vocals -- proves that sometimes, hype happens for a reason.
GO BUY THIS NOW!
Just incase you might need a slight bit more convincing heres a couple cuts from the LP that are on two very different tips. These happen to be my two favs, the rest of the LP falls somewhere between these two cuts.
