Rave to the Grave

Happy Halloween to everybody out in Blogland. Just wanted to fill all you fine folks in on the party that Oh SNAP! has been planning for a little while now. We are going to be having Krafty Kuts, Kraddy and Egyptrixx out at the Starlite Room for a black light zombie party, its gonna be a scary one see on the dance floor... Rave to the Grave!

KRAFTY KUTS

Krafty Kuts, is without doubt one of the world’s greatest DJs. Lauded in the UK, worshipped in Australia, acclaimed in America, where ever he plays he is guaranteed to cause a commotion with his riotous skills. So far in a glittering career he has gained dance music’s top accolades including Best International DJ at the Australian Dance Music Awards and Best Breaks DJ at the M8 Ibiza awards. A stunning haul at Breakspoll has seen him claim Best Album for his ‘Freakshow’ artist album on Against The Grain and Best DJ for three consecutive years. And to cap it off, the richly deserved Outstanding Contribution to Breakbeat award that acknowledged his long journey to the acme of club culture.

With the demand for his records and club sets showing no sign of slowing down, Krafty Kuts has flung himself headlong into non-stop touring and recording. Working solidly Krafty completed his debut solo album, Freakshow for Against The Grain. Once again the tracks featured a stellar cast of collaborators from the Scratch Perverts, Tim Deluxe and Dynamite MC, to long term associates A-Skillz, Ashley Slater and Dr Luke. Mirroring Krafty Kuts’ universal approach to partying and the dance-floor, the album moved through myriad tempos, taking in Acid, Breaks, Booty Bass and Funk with a consummate ease. Again the plaudits flooded in, with Freaksow gaining album of the month in DJ magazine and top marks across the board. The album’s lead single ‘Bass Phenomenon' was a ubiquitous feel good anthem of the summer and its popularity proved such that it won DJ Magazine single of the year 2006. Following hard on its heels a Fabriclive compilation proved to be one of the series’ most popular instalments with Krafty Kuts trademark eclectic nature shining through.

The following years saw Krafty Kuts rise still further, creating music for a Coca Cola advert, PlayStation 2, Guy Richie’s ‘Mean Machine’ movie, Will Ferrells 'A Final Night With George W Bush' TV show as well as mixing one of Mixmag’s most popular cover mount CDs.

His DJ shows have expanded from night clubs to 20,000 + capacity festival stages including Big Day Out, Glastonbury, Glade, Shambhala, Exit and many more.

From humble beginnings Krafty Kuts is now one of the big players on the world’s club scene, DJing alongside The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim and even the Rolling Stones. And with his recent Back To Mine raising the bar for the well-established series it appears there is no end in sight to the meteoric rise of Krafty Kuts.

Kraddy

Known for his intuitive ability to carve beats out of the bits, Kraddy has made a name for himself internationally as a producer and a DJ. His releases on Muti Music, Bless Records, Blunted Funk, Digital Distortions and his own label, Refiner Records have set him apart as a producer with a truly extra-ordinary sound.

Kraddy’s unique tweak has taken him from his home in San Francisco to LA, NY, Vancouver, Dublin, Prague, Stockholm, Bristol and even earned him the headlining slot at Trigger in Birmingham UK. He has also been featured on NuBreaks.com, BreakinAsia.com, and Cnet.com as well as being reviewed by XLR8R, URB, BPM, Undercover Magazine,Mofo and Rinse.

Kraddy’s music implicates cybernetic breaks with asymmetrical dub delays and hip hop grooves with dark ethereal melodies. At times his music is technical and frenetic and calls to mind images of genetically mutated earthworms, poping and locking deep underground to sub atomic frequencies, causing minute shifts in the structure and alignment of the tectonic plates, that over millennia will alter the magnetic core of the planet and thus change its frequency field steering its evolution towards greater harmony and a more peaceful form.

Other times he weaves together webs of moody etheresque clouds akin to the sounds of alternate life forces manipulating hydrogen and carbon molecules into biomechanical nanobots that imperceptibly permeate the neuronets of sleeping subjects from light years away in a methodical attempt to preserve and record the neural, synaptic and chemical makeup of all matter.

Egyptrixx

Egyptrixx is a producer from Toronto, Canada, who makes celestial club music; ghettotech for the tricks of the galaxy...jeep music for a Saturn desert. Tracks like 'Use Magic To Kill Death blow crowds away with their seasick, lilting take on vocal bassline, like some cyborg sound-image of a diva trapped in a pitch-bending hall of mirrors, over oozing slugs of 4x4 bass. It's an exhilarating right-but-wrong tension that all of Egyptrixx' tracks share - a shifting balance between melodic and dissonant, rapturous and antisocial.
(Alex "Bok Bok" Sushon - Fact Magazine UK)

In just one year, his distinct aesthetic - crooked and disorientating layers of bass, saturated by retro-futurist polysynths - has become an acclaimed presence in underground music, garnering praise from The Wire, Fact Magazine, Grindin, and countless other blogs and websites. His unique and energetic live sets are in-demand, with headlining sets banked all over Europe and North America and a busy touring schedule in upcoming months. In his music, bass drops and jacking percussion are balanced by a space-disco euphoria found in key melodies. With critically acclaimed releases already out on Vicious Pop, Wide and Idiot House records and a forthcoming EP on influential UK imprint AAH Real Monsters/Ramp, the future looks bright for Egyptrixx.
