This poor guy was mugged by a panda in the '90s.

MAJOR LAZER : ESSENTIAL MIX
I first blogged about Major Lazer almost a year and a half ago. Since this project has been killing it on all fronts. Vocal contributions from Ms. Thing, Vybz Kartel, Leftside aka Mr. Evil, Mr.Lexx, Santigold, T.O.K., Mr. Vegas, Nina Sky, and more its not a surprise that the man Major Lazer under the command of Switch & Diplo is set to take over the musical atmosphere for a time to come. Theyve recently finished an Essential Mix for Pete Tongs legendary BBC Radio 1 show. Get it below and see what all the hype is about, as if you didnt already know!

From Down Under With Love
Cassian hails from Melbourne, Australia and is here to make us dance. Try listening to his remix of Miami Horrors "Make You Mine" and not have some part of your body moving to the beat.
Those who can manage such a feat must be deemed bionic.
and be sure to give him some myspace love here.

This is What Happens When You Ignore the Itch
This track has had me bouncing around for the better part of two hours now. This is what happens when you sleep through the day. This is what happens when you don't have a kid. This is what happens if you listen to me.
This is What Happens (Mark Flash Remix) - Polar Pair

Afrojack has been commanding my attention for the past couple of weeks, pretty much steamrolling me with his Moombah remix and now again with the pumping, almost spooky, unbelievably tight Polka-dots.

Renaissance Man
These two dudes from Finland known as Renaissance Man are absolutely killing it right now. Making onto everyone whos anyones playlist over the last while they show no signs of stopping! Heres the score in their words.
Being middle class and Scandinavian prepares one for a bleak future. However two Helsinki DJ's, Downtown and Jaxxon, made it through the jungle, although without house music they would already be dead or in lower management - or both. Hailing from the new breed of Helsinki club survivors they bless the world with a mixture of all things kick drum and an idea fused into their concept of contemporary dance music.
In 2008 as a start of their creative collaboration they treated Helsinki with their monthly night NOW! bringing over such contemporaries as Boy 8-Bit, Radioclit, Duke Dumont, Mowgli and Zombie Disco Squad. That led to a fruitful production collaboration from which Spraycan, the first track they produced together, created immediately a fuzz behind the scenes of club land and started getting support from the likes of Switch, Duke Dumont, Brodinski, Riva Starr and their fellow Scandinavians Tomboy & Fredski. It is now being released in early 2009 on Switch's influential Dubsided imprint. Alongside filling numerous remix requests The EP is immediately followed by another one on Teki Latex' and DJ Orgasmic's label Sound Pellegrino bringing a bunch of ideas to the table that will change the face of dance music forever (with a 75% probability).

SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO
Simian Mobile Disco was originally formed as a traveling DJ duet, playing on the side of their early four-piece band Simian. They ultimately released a number of low profile singles, such as "The Count" on Kitsuné Music, but arguably gained more fame for their remixes of artists such as Muse, Klaxons, The Go! Team, Air and others. In 2006, Kitsuné released SMD's underground hit "Hustler", which features a vocal performance from New York singer Char Johnson.
The band's debut album, Attack Decay Sustain Release was released on 18 June 2007 on Wichita Recordings. Among the tracks included on it are "Hustler", "Tits and Acid", "I Believe", "Hot Dog" and lead single "It's the Beat", which features Ninja from UK indie band The Go! Team on vocals. The album contains five new tracks, and the European version includes a bonus disc. The album was preceded by two mix compilations in April and May, for the "Bugged Out" and "Go Commando" series respectively.
SMD supported Klaxons at Brixton Academy on the 5 December 2007 and The Chemical Brothers at Aintree Pavilion on 9 December 2007 and Brighton Centre on 12 December 2007. SMD made a mix for Mixmag that came free with the January 2008 issue of Mixmag. While working on their second studio album, they released a collection of remixed SMD originals entitled Sample and Hold, which contains eleven tracks and was released in 2008.
In January 2009, they announced on their Myspace page that a new album was supposed to come out in 2009. Soon after that, they released a new track "Synthesise", on 12 February, through a music video (directed by Kate Moross and Alex Sushon) that "features live visual accompaniment" for the track[2]. Two days later, a new song was broadcast on the BBC Radio 1 named "10,000 Horses Can't Be Wrong", soon followed by the release on 6 March of the official music video on their YouTube channel.
Their sophomore studio album Temporary Pleasure was finally announced on the 6 May, featuring many guests that they have encountered by their work as producers or their worldly tour. Heres their latest! This video along with the tune are extremely well produce and though out pieces of work. I can only imagine the new LP will be just as amazing!

A-ux A-ux A-ux
A-ux has always been one of my favorite artists. Being a native of South Korea (but currently residing in the US) he will soon be embarking on some mandatory military service. In light of this I find it appropriate to share some music of his with all of you.
The main thing that really separates A-ux from the crowd for me, is the shear amount of emotion that can be felt in his music. Along with top notch production value and a variety of influences that come through in his tracks, he is definitely someone to watch.

This Cat's a Smart-Ass
After playing one night, somebody told me that they had felt like they were sneaking through the woods with a drugged bear as a companion. I dismissed them. But if you watch this wiseguy cat with the Afrojack underneath, I almost understand what they were saying.

Lazy FLow + MIkix the Cat
So just thought I would share with everyone some great tunes by a few artists that I have really been feeling over the last year. I've seen both of these guys names pop up more and more frequently in the blogosphere lately and I'm stoked to see them blowing up as it might mean we can see them out here in Edmonton some day! First up we have a great edit from Lazy Flow this track has a great glossy disco sound with a drum track that is straight off the streets its glitz meets gangster and its definitely been on heavy rotation in my sets.
Cerrone -Je Suis Music (Armand Van Helden Remix) Lazy Flow edit
Next up is Parisian sensation Mikix the Cat who has recently joined the Trouble and Bass team along side legends AC Slater and Drop the Lime. This ghetto upgrade of a track that was released by Rob Threezy on the Nightshifters label is not to be overlooked, the bmore breakdown near theend of the track is so steezy it will literally make your head explode. Enjoy!

Sawgood......Very Good
Hailing from the depths of France, SAWGOOD is a young man who knows whats up!
He's only been in the scene for about a year, and is already getting attention from the likes of a number of big acts. Most prominent of these being , KISSY SELL OUT who recently featured him on BBC Radio's "In New Dj's We Trust."
With a collab in the works with FCKN CREW, and a number of new tunes on the way, the rest of 2009 is looking quite bright for this wonder-boy.
Prepare to be hearing a lot more from Sawgood in the new future, as his songs continue to destroy dance-floors around the world.
And be sure to give some myspace love @ http://www.myspace.com/sawgood

TOADALLY KROSSED OUT
So these hommies Toadally Krossed Out from the UK are making a bit of a buzz for themselves right now. Getting mad love from the Mad Decent camp and slated for a future release on the label these frogs have come out of a lesser known pond onto the world wide wildlife radar. Their tunes are tight as can be with next to flawless production and an ever present reminder that these toads mean business. Im not saying this is for everyone but if you like baltimore club done right and are fond of frogs these boys have your number.

Fruit Salad
I usually don't get very excited about fruit; I like my food starchy and loaded with sodium. When I hear of people eating fruit on purpose, I think of that 47 year old woman on a diet making a big show of eating a dry pasty apple at lunchtime, only to skulk about in the middle of the night with chocolate sauce on her face. But this is summertime, and I am told that this is a time to be colourful and gay (in the 1928 sense of the word). Some antioxidants:
Nothing 2 Step 2 (Sammy Bananas Remix) / Thunderheist
Smooth, disco-ey. Isis' vocals really drive this one.
Bad Apple / Julio Bashmore
What the inside of an apple would sound like if you were in Latin America and high.
Coconut Orchid / DJ Mario Barrio
An oldschool-inspired romp; preachy vocals, percussive chiming, even some faint whistle.
